Press & Sun Bulletin: "An out-of-state legal defense fund has dropped its lawsuit against Broome Community College that was filed after administrators discontinued a rental lease with a fledging, non-denominational church that had met on campus.
Legal papers discontinuing the case were filed Aug. 18 in the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York.
Attorneys for the two sides interpreted the action differently.
The Alliance Defense Fund, acting on behalf of North Pointe Church, dropped the lawsuit after BCC revised its policy to allow churches and other religious groups to meet in public facilities on the same terms as other groups, said Daniel Blomberg, litigation counsel for the conservative nonprofit organization headquartered in Scottsdale, Ariz., that filed the lawsuit for North Pointe."
