ADF commends HHS decision to end NIH research using human fetal tissue from elective abortion

Wednesday, June 05, 2019

The following quote may be attributed to Alliance Defending Freedom Legislative Counsel Kellie Fiedorek regarding the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ statement Wednesday announcing the Trump administration’s decision to discontinue the National Institutes of Health research using human fetal tissue from elective abortions and outlining plans to adopt and strengthen ethical safeguards applicable to outside research funded by NIH grants:

“Every human life, from conception to natural death, has dignity and value. That’s why we commend the Trump Administration’s decision to end NIH research using the broken body parts of aborted babies. Truly ethical research abides by federal law and refuses to sacrifice the rights of unborn children in its efforts to find innovative cures. We’re grateful that HHS initiated a comprehensive review of its current research and implemented policy change in light of the serious regulatory, moral, and ethical considerations at stake. We respectfully urge members of the NIH ethics advisory board to apply similar caution and respect when deciding which research projects American taxpayer dollars should fund.”
