Federal court upholds Nevada’s authority to protect marriage

The following quote may be attributed to Alliance Defending Freedom Legal Counsel Jim Campbell regarding a federal court’s decision in Sevcik v. Sandoval to uphold the state of Nevada’s ability to maintain laws and institute constitutional amendments that protect marriage as the union of one man and one woman:
“Society should protect and strengthen marriage, not undermine it. Nevada and all other states have the freedom under the U.S. Constitution to maintain or implement laws with that purpose. Marriage expresses the truth that men and women bring distinct, irreplaceable gifts to family life. The court was right to uphold the state’s ability to recognize and protect that as part of its public policy.”
